The FoodWise Manifesto

Are you FoodWise?

The Foodwise Manifesto sets out what Do Something! wants to achieve when it comes to food waste and food sustainability. Economically, Do Something wants to reduce the $7.8 billion a year that Australians spend on food that they buy and throw away. Environmentally we want to reduce the 4 million tonnes of food that we send to landfill annually.

PLEASE NOTE: This Foodwise Manifesto is soon to be updated with new food waste statistics. When reading the attached document, please bear in mind the following changes still to be added:

- New data shows that Australians spend $7.8 billion on food that we buy and throw away.

- Australians throw away 4 million tonnes of food a year. That's equivalent to 178kg of food for each Australian.

- New CSIRO research also shows that it takes 15,000 litres of water to produce 1kg of beef
